Sylvania Franciscan Associate Relationship

Are you looking for ways to make your faith a more active part of your life? Would you like to learn how to turn toward God and live a life of simple giving—all while you continue on as father, brother, mother, sister, friend or spouse? Then follow the way of St. Francis of Assisi, who spent his whole life walking in the footsteps of Jesus, and consider becoming a Sylvania Franciscan Associate.

Sylvania Franciscan Associates are women and men of all walks of life—single, married, widowed, divorced, or clerics who want to experience the charism of St. Francis of Assisi through the vision and mission of the Sisters of St. Francis of Sylvania, Ohio. Associates bond with the community in a non-vowed, yearly commitment that empowers them to share in the proclamation of Franciscan values in today’s world.

Based on an agreement between the individual and the Sisters of St. Francis, the Associate relationship is designed to enrich one’s prayer life and foster a deeper sense of the Gospel invitation to service. Associates share in prayer with the Sylvania Franciscans and participate in the community’s mission through volunteer work in their own church, civic community or here, on the campus of the Sylvania Franciscans.

As an expression of living the Gospel in mission, Associates are asked to serve in some aspect of volunteer ministry. Opportunities to serve the people of God can be found in many places. Following are a few examples:
