Franciscan Evening Prayer

Join us every Monday at 5:30 p.m.
Our Lady Queen of Peace Chapel, Motherhouse Grounds

Following the Catholic tradition of praying throughout the day, the Sisters of St. Francis of Sylvania gather for evening prayer, or “Vespers”, in Queen of Peace Chapel. This service follows the tradition known as the Liturgy of the Hours where vowed religious and lay members of the church take time to recite prayer and sing songs of praise at certain times each day.

Evening prayer is meant to give thanks for all of the blessing we have received that day. It consists of an opening prayer, hymn, psalms, Scripture reading, excerpts from the life of Francis, petitions, closing prayer and blessing. Join us at 5:30 p.m. on Mondays and end your day in thankful prayer.

Spiritual Direction

Spiritual Direction is a process that assists a person to reflect on his or her life experience, particularly as it relates to one’s primary relationship with God.

Ordinarily, a directee (person seeking guidance) meets regularly with a trained spiritual director, who accompanies the directee in his/her life journey, and encourages and supports the directee’s growth in holiness.
