Peace Cranes

Shop All Good Things

The Peace Crane has its origin in the Japanese tradition of folding one thousand cranes as a prayer for health, prosperity and good fortune. Since the bombing of Hiroshima, the paper crane has also come to express a prayer for peace. Each crane, folded by one of our Sisters or Associates, carries our wish for peace to you.

Paper, embroidery thread and beads, approx. 2" x 3" folded. Each crane is threaded for hanging. Each comes folded in a 3' x 5" plastic pouch, along with a card with directions for opening the crane and the story of Sadako Sasaki, the young Japanese girl immortalized after her attempt to fold a thousand cranes to cure her of her radiation sickness.
