St Francis of Assisi believed that all men and women were children of God created for love and service. He invited all, including married persons and clerics to adopt a lifestyle of conversion. Millions have responded to his invitation throughout the past eight hundred years. The Sisters of St. Francis of Sylvania, Ohio, invite you to explore this same spirituality as a Sylvania Franciscan Associate.
Anyone desiring to be an Associate needs to have the desire to bond with the Sisters by spending time in personal daily prayer, sharing prayer with the Sisters, joining in Community events and spreading the Franciscan spirit. Associates do this through their personal life and volunteering in their church, civic community, and, if possible, in some ministry with the Sylvania Franciscan community, thus discovering new reasons for living and new ways of continuing God’s work on earth. This desire for spiritual growth and support for common values and concerns is what Association is all about.

The Sylvania Franciscan Associate is a non-vowed relationship that bonds men and women of many faiths, nationalities, and creeds, whether married, widowed, divorced, or cleric, with the Sisters of St. Francis. Held in common with Sylvania Franciscan Sisters is the response to God’s call to share the journey and the dream of St. Francis of Assisi by living the Gospel as joyful servants among all people. |
| Associates enter into a Covenant agreement with the Sisters of St. Francis to enrich their prayer life and develop a deeper sense of the Gospel call to service in the spirit of St. Francis, St. Clare and our Foundress, Mother Adelaide. They share in solidarity with the Sylvania Franciscan charism by proclaiming Franciscan values in today’s world. |
