History

Clare’s Pence was established in 1993 as a means of corporate outreach toward women in need. The purpose of the fund is to promote justice to women who are poor, oppressed or marginalized. The fund is to be used to enable women to make positive changes in their life.

Grant applications can be submitted by any Sylvania Franciscan or Associate on behalf of a woman in need. The Peace and Justice Focus Group reviews the applications at their quarterly meeting. Decisions are based on the guidelines found in the Distribution Policy. Applications and copies of the Distribution Policy are available online (below) or through Patricia O’Shea Remley. Grants are awarded up to $500.

Clare’s Pence is funded through the personal contributions of individual Sisters and Associates.
